Since the BOT informed to the BOE that all the members of BOT are planning or going to resign on New Year Party if BOE positively responses the Open Letter to BOE from BOT on April 9th 2013. BOE is heartily accepts all positive inputs given by BOT and do so. The BOE has made a formal decision to honor the members of BOT during the New Year Eve Program upon the acceptance of resignation from the members of BOT.

Thank you very much and see you all in the program.

Thank you,
Board of Executive
Nebraska Nepalese Society

Announcement to NNS Community

The current BOE is legitimately formed for the welfare of its society and its people. It neither did have any ill intention to any individual nor bring about conflict and enmity to one another or amongst the general public in the past or at present or future. Right after the formation of BOE, kind of discussion arose between the BOE and BOT witnessing general public. However, our bottom line was to redefine the Life Time Trustees including the areas to be reformed and amend the Bylaw as needed to change as per the changing phenomenon of time. To get it result oriented, several efforts for the meetings and dialogues were performed and most notably the one organized in the UNO. As a result of all these efforts, we believe now that we finally have come together to the point of negotiation – which we value greatly.

A combined meeting of BOE, BOT and general public decided to form an Independent Committee dated March 13, 2013 at Jenkins Room Milo Bail Student Center, University of Nebraska (UNO) in order to solve the problem of current circumstances. But, by the time of forming the committee, the BOT made another decision. BOT evaluated all the circumstances and its role in the Nepalese community and decided to resign if the BOE corrects the mistakes and focuses to its mission. The BOE highly welcomes the decision of BOT and assures to correct its mistakes and wants to step ahead according to the mandate of the community.

In the process of making NNS democratic and transparent; I, Bimal Adhikari, President, on behalf of NNS BOE would reiterate our collective commitment along with the vote of acceptance that I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience may have caused to community members due to any misunderstanding concerning the approach of dealing during the meetings, removal of the bylaws and not publishing the past meeting minutes. The BOE sincerely believes that one and only principal objective is to revitalize NNS a creative way.

We extend our sincere gratitude in the recognition of the commendable contribution you all have made to Nebraska Nepalese Society from its inception to now. We all definitely agree that one and only interest of BOE is to serve the community and help the needy community members residing in Nebraska. We always give priority to unite the community members together and work towards the common goal of accomplishing the mission statement of Nebraska Nepalese Society as we are genuinely aware of the fact that unite we stand and divide we fall.

In connection to the bylaw amendment, we feel that the proposal of amendment initiated from BOE may not be thought fair enough and likely to be guided by the current board’s self-interest. Therefore, a proposal of amendment committee is proposed. We agree that the BOT wants to make bylaw transparent, clearly defined executives’ roles and their duties such as Founders and Co-founders. These all concerns are very important and useful for moving community ahead. Therefore, BOE is going to form a bylaw amendment committee in which founders, co-founders, students, NNS supporters and representatives from BOE and BOT will be included. The committee will amend the bylaw that will incorporate all the items and sub items addressing the inputs received from BOT dated 9th April, 2013. The committee will be tasked to amend the bylaw the earliest the possible.

2nd Day of NNS Hoops Day 2013

Hoopsday-winner

The Excitement continued from previous day and Sunday’s games were exception. The First Semi-Final Game was between Dunkin Hanuman (DH) Vs Wichita , even though DH only had just Five players in the team they showed real character and took the game to overtime. In Regular time the score was tied at 37 but Wichita turn around the game and Beat DH by just 2 basket. The Total Score was DH 43; Wichita 45. This game had everything you look forward in a tight Semi-Final Match: We see a lot of passion, determination, Team co-ordination, supporters on their feet and so on….

The second Semi-Final Match was between Himalayan Hoops Dallas Vs Colorado and what a cracker of a game this was too. Intensity was at the max, even there was a lot of passion and intensity, the # of fouls committed was comparably low. Both the team showed really a good team spirit but Colorado came on top to win this one by 8 baskets. The total score was Colorado 45; Himalayan Hoops 37.

Right before the final, Binay Regmi organized the free throw competition and it was fill with fun and laughter.

The much awaited Final was between Colorado and Wichita, the previous game between these two was a buzzer beater. The final shot from Colorado decided the outcome in that match and everyone was hoping for the same in this one. The final between these two team was very tight, both teams showed aggression, passion, determination & willingness to outscore the opponent. The first half ended with Wichita scoring 20 & Colorado was on top with 28 points. The second half started the same as the first half, Colorado was on top for a brief moment, Wichita came back with couple of points. After a while the game change when Sharad Robertson who was outstanding the whole tournament took matter into his own hands and started scoring freely. Once Sharad started scoring it was a one way traffic. It seemed as though Wichita gave up in 2nd half, they seemed tired. The number of players in Colorado was 12 compared to 7 for Wichita. Numbers does matter when it’s a 2 day event, more players you have less tired your team going to be. The decision making process becomes harder when the team is tired and team Wichita was showing that at the end of 2nd half. The final score was Colorado 52; Wichita 41.

No matter what the circumstances were, Colorado were the BEST team and they deserved to be champion. Sharad Robertson won the MVP two years in a row, remember the name, :”Sharad Robertson” # 5. He and Team Colorado will be back next year to Win this Tournament Again! Let's see who will try to stop them...

Deadline Letter to Trustees

Dear Trustees,

The board sent an email to you on Feb 4, 2013 to seek trustees’ approval to dissolve the ‘Life-time Trustees’. Our executive members collectively purposed to dissolve the ‘Life-Time Trustee’ to give a great opportunity and encourage to new commerce to continue The NNS in a high level during an executive meeting on February 2, 2013. Moreover, we had the same respond from the members of NNS and Founder members on our last NNS General Meeting held on Feb 10th. We have sent a letter in accordance with views of the executive board, and more importantly consensus among the community that we have the privilege to serve. The board has decided that it is the best interest of our NNS members to dissolve the ‘Life-Time Trustees.

We were anticipating a response from the Trustees regarding this matter within 2 weeks. However the trustees might not have had an opportunity to discuss this important matter yet. As result of our last meeting, which was held on Feb 24, 2013, we have purposed a response deadline of March 5, 2013. We are hopeful the Trustees will give us a great opportunities responding in positive way by the deadline to make and bring all the NNS members under ONE ROOF without involving in any further hassles.

Thank you
NNS Board

Proposal Letter to board of Trustees

Dear Trustees,
We appreciate your continuous contribution to our organization. We respect current Bylaws and will abide to follow it. However, the current executive board would like to redefine some terminologies in Bylaws as per current demands.

The executive council with the 2/3 of the majority proposes to modify the definition of ‘Life-time Trustee’. The decision came about at the executive committee meeting on February 2, 2013 (also included in our minute). Please find below the reasoning for the proposed modification of the definition of ‘Life –time Trustee’’.

1) In the democratic system, no one is assigned as lifetime trustee for his/her whole life period in the world.
2) A general worldwide concept: As the time goes by, the output level of a person decreases by which his/her contribution decreases.
3) Opportunity should be given to the new qualified ones to generate new ideas.
