Nepali New Year 2069 News
April 23, 2012, Hundreds of Nepalese-culture lovers were expected to be desperate to celebrate NNS Nepali New Year 2069 event on the night of 21st April; exactly one week after it was cancelled because of the severe weather condition. As per our anticipation, a huge mass of internationals and Nepalese nationals flocked to Bellevue University Student Center to observe the long awaited NNS Nepali New Year 2069, and exchange New Year wishes among each other.
Nebraska Nepalese Society has always been proactive in the promotion and preservation of Nepalese culture in Nebraska. Now, we are taking some new steps geared towards charitable work in Nepal. As a first step we have donated $300 for the treatment of Sarita D.C, an 11 years old girl in Nepal who suffers a blood disease called ITP. Here is a video of our contact in Nepal handing over the money to Sarita’s mother.

NNS Hoops Day 2012 News
By-Nirakar Rajbhandari Nebraska Nepalese Society successfully organized the annual NNS Hoops Day amid the mass of basketball lovers. The tournament began on the 10th and concluded on 11th of March. This event marked its 8th season since its commencement in 2004. Like previous years, Team Nebraska and teams from other states including Team Wichita, Team Colorado, Team Dallas (Himalayan Hoops) and Dunking Hanuman participated in the tournament.
On January 28, 2012, Nebraska Nepalese Society celebrated Saraswati Puja at the Hindu Temple in Omaha. It was a day to celebrate the birthday of Saraswati – the goddess of learning. We started the celebration with puja and bhajans. Children participated with great enthusiasm
