NNS Soccer Tournament 2012 PDF 

July 29, 2012, Nebraska Nepalese Society (NNS) proudly and successfully organized its 3rd annual NNS Soccer Tournament, in Papillion Soccer Complex from 21 July to 29th July 2012. The tournament was played in a league format, with the participation of 5 teams, namely Bhutanese Soccer Team, Bellevue City FC, Gunlao FC, Omahako Kheladi FC and West Omaha FC.

Bellevue FC, Bhutanese Soccer Team, Omahako Kheladi FC and Gunlao FC had progressed to the semifinals after securing top two positions in their respective groups. Bellevue City FC and Gunlao FC vied for the title after they had progressed to final by beating Omahako Kheladi FC by 4-0 and Bhutanese Soccer Team by 6-3 in their respective semifinals played on 28th July 2012.

Bellevue FC stood out to be the ultimate Champion for the year 2012, after defeating Gunlao FC in a highly competitive match with the help of a lone goal by Santosh Gaire through an impressive header from an assist by Sunil Pun in the second half of the match. Santosh Gaire was also the “Highest Scorer” in the tournament with 7 goals in 4 games. Sunil Pun from Bellevue City FC was voted “Best Player of the Tournament” for his dynamic performance throughout the tournament with 3 goals and 3 assists in only 3 games. Kaustubh Singh (Bellevue City FC) was chosen the “Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament” for allowing least number of goals (clean sheets) throughout the tournament, and for his impressive role in-front of the goal in the final game.

NNS president Mrs. Deepa Pokharel, Vice-President Mr. Sanjay Shrestha, Trustee Mr. Tara Pokharel, other board members, and many spectators were present to observe the final game. Both, President and Vice-President congratulated the winning and the runner-up team, and Mr. Pokharel handed the trophy to the winning team. The Bellevue City FC players looked ecstatic after winning the cup for the first time in 3 years, after failing to capture the title in previous two attempts. Nebraska Nepalese Society congratulates both the winning and the runner teams. NNS also expresses its cordial thanks to the other participating teams, spectators and the volunteers for their highly active participation, and making this event greatly successful. NNS expects for the similar involvement from everyone in the year 2013.
