2nd Day of NNS Hoops Day 2013 |
|

The Excitement continued from previous day and Sunday’s games were exception. The First Semi-Final Game was between Dunkin Hanuman (DH) Vs Wichita , even though DH only had just Five players in the team they showed real character and took the game to overtime. In Regular time the score was tied at 37 but Wichita turn around the game and Beat DH by just 2 basket. The Total Score was DH 43; Wichita 45. This game had everything you look forward in a tight Semi-Final Match: We see a lot of passion, determination, Team co-ordination, supporters on their feet and so on….
The second Semi-Final Match was between Himalayan Hoops Dallas Vs Colorado and what a cracker of a game this was too. Intensity was at the max, even there was a lot of passion and intensity, the # of fouls committed was comparably low. Both the team showed really a good team spirit but Colorado came on top to win this one by 8 baskets. The total score was Colorado 45; Himalayan Hoops 37.
Right before the final, Binay Regmi organized the free throw competition and it was fill with fun and laughter.
The much awaited Final was between Colorado and Wichita, the previous game between these two was a buzzer beater. The final shot from Colorado decided the outcome in that match and everyone was hoping for the same in this one. The final between these two team was very tight, both teams showed aggression, passion, determination & willingness to outscore the opponent. The first half ended with Wichita scoring 20 & Colorado was on top with 28 points. The second half started the same as the first half, Colorado was on top for a brief moment, Wichita came back with couple of points. After a while the game change when Sharad Robertson who was outstanding the whole tournament took matter into his own hands and started scoring freely. Once Sharad started scoring it was a one way traffic. It seemed as though Wichita gave up in 2nd half, they seemed tired. The number of players in Colorado was 12 compared to 7 for Wichita. Numbers does matter when it’s a 2 day event, more players you have less tired your team going to be. The decision making process becomes harder when the team is tired and team Wichita was showing that at the end of 2nd half. The final score was Colorado 52; Wichita 41.
No matter what the circumstances were, Colorado were the BEST team and they deserved to be champion. Sharad Robertson won the MVP two years in a row, remember the name, :”Sharad Robertson” # 5. He and Team Colorado will be back next year to Win this Tournament Again! Let's see who will try to stop them...

Prize Distribution: Tara Pokharel (Life-Time Trustee); Gyanendra B Chettry (Founder); Sunil Acharaya (Trustee); Bimal Adhikari (President); Ujjwol Satyal (Sports Co-ordinator); Ayush Panta (General Secreetary).

Deadline Letter to Trustees |
|
Dear Trustees,
The board sent an email to you on Feb 4, 2013 to seek trustees’ approval to dissolve the ‘Life-time Trustees’. Our executive members collectively purposed to dissolve the ‘Life-Time Trustee’ to give a great opportunity and encourage to new commerce to continue The NNS in a high level during an executive meeting on February 2, 2013. Moreover, we had the same respond from the members of NNS and Founder members on our last NNS General Meeting held on Feb 10th. We have sent a letter in accordance with views of the executive board, and more importantly consensus among the community that we have the privilege to serve. The board has decided that it is the best interest of our NNS members to dissolve the ‘Life-Time Trustees.
We were anticipating a response from the Trustees regarding this matter within 2 weeks. However the trustees might not have had an opportunity to discuss this important matter yet. As result of our last meeting, which was held on Feb 24, 2013, we have purposed a response deadline of March 5, 2013. Proposal Letter to board of Trustees |
|
Dear Trustees, We appreciate your continuous contribution to our organization. We respect current Bylaws and will abide to follow it. However, the current executive board would like to redefine some terminologies in Bylaws as per current demands. The executive council with the 2/3 of the majority proposes to modify the definition of ‘Life-time Trustee’. The decision came about at the executive committee meeting on February 2, 2013 (also included in our minute). Please find below the reasoning for the proposed modification of the definition of ‘Life –time Trustee’’. 1) In the democratic system, no one is assigned as lifetime trustee for his/her whole life period in the world. 2) A general worldwide concept: As the time goes by, the output level of a person decreases by which his/her contribution decreases. 3) Opportunity should be given to the new qualified ones to generate new ideas.

Red was in the air, and red all over, as red was the theme for the nite. Nepalese in Nebraska must have found themselves lucky to observe scores of gorgeous ladies donned in red sarees, under a single roof. This event was non other than our very own “Dar Party 2012” organized by Nebraska Nepalese Society (NNS). The culture of consuming Dar, is a long established hindu tradition which dates back centuries, and is generally celebrated in the eve of Teej, a religious and greatest festival for hindu women, who endures a day long fasting for the longevity of their husband.
