Here is the general information about the scholarship:

Who can apply:

All full time undergraduate college students of Nepalese origin in the state of Nebraska

Selection process:

  • Step 1: Download application( Available here)
  • Step 2: Fill out the form and answer the essay type questions.( The candidates will be scored based on the essays.) E-mail the completed application to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . (Deadline: August 31st)
  • Step 3: Scholarship committee members will grade and score the applications individually. Average score  will be calculated. A small number of applicants will be selected for interview. The names of the selected candidates will be announced on or before September 15th.
  • Step4: After the final interview, the winner will be announced during the Dashain Tihar Festival.
    General goals of the scholarship:
  1. Raise awareness about the importance of preserving and promoting Nepalese culture, tradition and values  among the young  Nepalese students freshly starting their new life in Nebraska
  2. Encourage young students to participate in promoting the goals of NNS , enhance the sense of belonging to the community, encourage volunteerism and prepare future NNS leaders
  3. One hard working young student will be awarded the $1000 scholarship based on several different characters with the most important being listed first:
  •  Must be actively involved or have a strong desire to be involved  in promoting the goals of NNS
  • Must have good Nepali moral values and understand the importance of preserving our culture
  • Must demonstrate the ability  to survive through hard times with hard-work while maintaining integrity and ethical standards
  • Must demonstrate genuine economic hardship
  • Must maintain a basic academic standard
